Today is Carnival Monday in Trinidad and Tobago, and in times past, carnival activities would have been in full swing. J’ouvert would have started in the early hours of the morning and would go until the sun rose. Tobago’s Main Ridge Forest Reserve

Tobago’s Main Ridge is the oldest legally protected forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere; it was established on April 13th, 1776.  It is situated on a large portion of Tobago’s surface area, on the north-eastern side of the island. Betsey's Hope

Yet another one of Tobago’s historical plantation stories is that which involves the naming of the village now called Betsey Hope. This is a small village, located on the way to the popularly known village of Charlotteville, just past the second town in Tobago, Roxborough. Formerly known as Louis D’or Estate this village was one of but not the first Sugar Cane Plantation in Tobago, having been founded around the end of the 1760s.
