I love Buccoo!

Have you ever wondered, “what shall I do?” when you’re relaxing in Tobago? Well, I am here to share some suggestions with you.

If you are on the western side of the island then where better place to begin than visiting the village of Buccoo. This village is one of the homes of Goat and Crab racing, which takes place every year on Easter Tuesday, an experience which is unparalleled anywhere else in the Caribbean, and which attracts tourists from all over the world. It is definitely a delightful and fun experience and truly an exciting activity for the whole family to enjoy. Buccoo Village is also known for having Sunday School, a popular street party that occurs on Sunday nights in the village, so don’t you dare go there without your dancing shoes.

Just off the shores of the village, is the famous Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool which is said to have healing powers, and age reversing capabilities. To get there one has a few choices: boarding the glass bottom boat either from Store Bay, Pigeon Point or Bon Accord Lagoon.

The beach is lovely, so if you just want to kick back and relax on it with no hassle, that is never a problem. The mangrove is full of interesting fauna, or you may want to walk on the sand to the end of the beach and then take the trail to No Man’s island for a change in scenery. Ensure your safe arrival there by getting the assistance of villagers.

There are still more options for things to enjoy in Buccoo. Another recommended family activity is that of interacting with, and riding horses in the waters of the beach, managed by the organisation called Healing with Horses.

One last thing I have to mention, it will be remiss of me not to do so. Before you leave the village of Buccoo, you must visit the Heritage Park, and the newly installed ‘I love Buccoo’ sign and commemorate the trip with lots of pictures by the park and including the beautiful signage.
