Easter in Tobago!

Easter in Tobago, the place to be!

Easter weekend is fast approaching and Tobago is the place to be. If you are not here yet, then you need to be on the next flight or boat ride to Tobago.

Tobago comes alive for Easter, with a lot of activities scheduled to take place. Have no fear, there are activities for everyone. Take your pick from all-inclusive parties/brunches/limes to Harvest festivals, Goat and Crab Race or just enjoying a more relaxing activity like visiting the Buccoo reef/Nylon Pool and No man’s land.

I am aware that some may not know what are Tobago Harvest Festival or Tobago Goat and Crab race. Let me give you a short explanation of what there are: Tobago Harvest Festival originated as a Christian thanksgiving, and the celebration is held by a different community nearly every weekend throughout the year. The village-wide cook-out is open to everyone and is one of the best ways to get to know the people of Tobago, who will welcome you with open arms, a home-cooked meal, music and laughs. Easter Weekend Harvests are held in the villages of Bethel, Mt Pleasant and Buccoo on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday respectively.

The annual Tobago Crab and Goat Race has not only become synonymous with the Easter holidays but is also one of the more popular signature events on the island's calendar. Nearly 100 years old, the unique event is deeply rooted in the island's culture and is a must-see for both locals and visitors from all over the world. Each year, jockeys train and race their goats several hundred yards to the finish line, competing for the coveted title, Champ of Champs. Tobago Goat Race and Crab race are held in the villages of Mt Pleasant and Buccoo on Easter Monday and Tuesday respectively.

If you choose, you can kill two birds with one stone by taking part in both the Harvest Festival and attending the Goat and Crab Race in Mt Pleasant or Buccoo. So, bring out the whole family to have some fun. Have yourself some delicious home cooked harvest food or purchase something from the friendly vendors, while enjoying the entertainment and festivities of the weekend.
